WANTED: Sensitive, caring person who cares deeply about animals to work at a non-profit pot bellied pig sanctuary located near Marana, AZ, a rural area of Southern Arizona one hours drive NorthWest of Tucson. Experience with working with animals and medical knowledge is a plus. The ability to work with others is necessary. We are looking for a reliable self starter and fast learner. No experience necessary, we will train you.
 

 
Potential candidates are paid straight time for up to a 4 day trial so that they can get a better feel for the job and we can evaluate them.
 

 
This is a full time position. Five 8 hour days. Working hours are from 5am to 1pm in the summer becoming 7am to 3pm in the winter. There is an opportunity to receive up to a $1 per hour increase each year during the first and second years.
 

 
Our location is about 1 hours drive NW of central Tucson. We are approximately 30 miles distant from Tucson. There are about 4 miles of dirt roads to the sanctuary. Those coming from the Town of Catalina are a little closer since we are in a rural area between Marana and Catalina. Those living near Avra Valley and Trico/Marana roads are also closer. There is no bus service to the sanctuary. You must have reliable transportation.

This is HARD work. Job duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning pens and fields, feeding, hands-on care of pigs who are disabled, injured, or sick, or general animal care and help with trimming tusks and hoofs. Must be willing to work some weekends and holidays as necessary. Five day work week is standard. This is an outside job so experience working outside in the summer is helpful. Summer daytime temperatures can be in the 100’s.
 

 
No drugs period. Must pass a drug test as a condition of employment. Non-smoker and vegetarian/vegan preferred.
