Immediate opening for a medical billing specialist in NW Glendale. Full-time hours — M-F 9am-5pm — available for 60 to 90 days, then position will be part-time beginning approx mid-April. Part-time hours will be M-F noon to 5pm.

Duties include:

Answer phones and assist patients with billing questions, update patient information, and take payments. Check voice mails and return customer calls. Take accurate messages to relay information to other billing team members, ancillary staff, and medical providers. Maintain confidentiality regarding patient medical and personal information as required under HIPAA, FCRA and other regulatory standards.

Answer calls from internal staff and research and/or respond appropriately.

Audit co-pays for accuracy and update patient records to reflect balance / credit if necessary.

Research AHCCCS/Medicare prime/coverage termed denials.

Update insurance and addresses on returned mail.

Scan patient records into Electronic Medical Records patient charts. Scan archived paper charts for electronic storage.

Assist with requests for medical records/ collections accounts. Print and mail / fax / email requested information.

Other tasks and duties as requested

Minimum requirements:

HS Diploma or GED
Exceptional customer skills
Good telephone etiquette and written communication skills (good grammar and spelling a must)
Computer experience using MS Office
Ability to work independently as well as contribute to team goals
Familiar with medical office and/or billing procedures
EMR (Electronic Medical Records) experience a plus
Billing / Coding certification preferred
