Bookmans is the largest used book retailer in Arizona. With six retail stores, a 50,000+ square foot fulfillment center and online store, we have something for everyone. We need your expertise to keep our networks running smoothly. Occasional travel is required for service visits to the stores; however, base camp is at Gangplank Tucson.
Bookmans hosts the Gangplank Tucson collaborative workspace where we foster collaboration without physical or financial barriers. Bookmans IT Department resides in the Gangplank Tucson space so you must be able to work effectively in a co-working and collaborative space with no cubicles or offices. Responsibilities:
* Install, configure and maintain network services, equipment and devices
* Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary
* Develop and document system standards for computer and network devices
* Recommend and schedule repairs to the LAN/WAN
* Install, configure, monitor and respond to security systems
* Identify potential IT problems and needs and bring them to the attention of the Director of IT
* Provide troubleshooting and customer service to users for network related issues
* Assist with reviewing and performance tuning of existing corporate databases
* Develop, implement and maintain IT policies and procedures, including those for network architecture, software, security and disaster recovery
* Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
* Plan, coordinate and implement network security measures to protect data, software and hardware
* Monitor network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future
* Evaluate network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls
* Responds to, updates and closes network related trouble tickets
* Be on call outside normal working hours for emergency network issues
* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations and collaborating in Gangplank Tucson eventsQualifications:
* Technical: Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, VLAN, TCP/IP, VoIP, QoS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, NHRP, ATM, PPP, MPLS; Cisco Network IDS, SSL, VPN, IPSec, DHCP, DNS, web security architecture, FTP, SolarWinds software, VM Ware and Acronis software
* Systems: Windows Server 2000 and 2003, Windows XP, Windows 7, Linux, Mac OS, Cisco Systems, ShoreTel VoIP systems
* Basic understanding of Agile Project Management
* Experience with security protocols and standards
* Knowledge of intrusion detection systems
* Ability to communicate complex technical requirements
* Ability to effectively communicate with end users and other non-technical people
* Ability to schedule, prioritize and manage multiple projectsPreferred Skills:
* 2+ years supporting, implementing and/or administering networks
* Certifications: Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE); Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP); Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
* Able to manage multiple projects and prioritize diverse tasks
* Able to troubleshoot user systems or network devices
* Working with outside vendors
