CAD DESIGNER/DRAFTER

  • CAD Designer position available in engineering department of a Phoenix based manufacturing facility. The CAD Designer is an integral part of our fast paced team environment. The CAD Designer works with the design and construction teams to generate part design and construction drawings while ensuring efficiency, quality and accuracy.
     

     
    The primary responsibilities of the CAD Designer will be to transform initial rough floor plan and mechanical component designs using computer aided design (CAD) into working fabrication, assembly, architectural & engineering drawings. They will assist the design staff and construction department with all required CAD drawings including immediate detail or problem solving information. Other responsibilities may include: Update drawings with as-built information in order to keep documents up to date. Review current CAD procedures and make suggestions for improvement. Develop, maintain, evolve, document, and adhere to in-house drafting standards. Manage drawings and supporting electronic files/documents on a shared server. Draft new layouts and make improvements to existing designs under the guidance and direction of the design team. Analyze data and review drawings and plans to ensure quality of work and project feasibility.
     

     
    Qualifications:
     
    Associate’s degree and 3 years experience with CAD.
     

     
    Working knowledge of current version of AutoCAD (v2010 preferred), word processing, spreadsheet software and E-mail.
     

     
    Prefer experience in residential construction drawings. Mechanically minded individual with good communication skills a must.
     
    Ability to work effectively with design engineer and construction department.
     
    Self-motivated and a positive minded individual with a problem solving approach. Able to work through design problems using critical thinking and simple geometry.
     

     
    Exhibits a strong sense of ownership over projects.
     

     
    Self directed, relies on minimal supervision to perform the functions of the job as well as maintain project deadlines.
     
    Physical Requirements:
     
    Must be able to periodically lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
     
    Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
     
    Must be able to periodically bend, kneel and crouch
     

     
    Must be able to check constructed conditions of projects within the factory which may include climbing ladders and working in crawl spaces.
     

     
    Benefits:
     
    Full time salaried position with paid time off and annual compensation between $21,000 and $31,000 depending upon experience. Permanent position based upon review after a 60 day trial period. Additional benefits and growth opportunities may be available.
