Job Description
<br>
This individual, under the supervision of the Director of Cytogenetics, will assist with FISH preparation, analysis and interpretation, when necessary, to maintain appropriate specimen turn-around-times. In addition pre-reviews all patient files for correct clinical indication and patient information, accuracy of all images, analysis information, nomenclature and written results prior to final review.

Required Skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
<br>
1. Coordinate workflow on a daily basis to insure timely analysis and reporting of patient samples
<br>
2. Pre-review all patient case reports and images for accuracy prior to final review by the Laboratory Director. Make corrections to the reports as necessary.
<br>
3. Coordinate web lab rotations
<br>
4. Assist the laboratory technologists in the review of quality control procedures and insure all labs are meeting requirements for standardization of reagents and protocols.
<br>
5. Assist with the preparation of recording the monthly laboratory quality control reports
<br>
6. Insure adequate inventories are maintained for the FISH section
<br>
7. Oversee daily equipment check and evaluation
<br>
8. Coordinate the training of new lab personnel and rotating students under review of the laboratory director.

Required Experience
<br>
This individual must have a B.S. or B.A. degree, and show competence in understanding basic science and clinical cytogenetics with an emphasis on oncology FISH. He/She should have a minimum of three to five years experience in clinical cytogenetics and NCA certification as a clinical laboratory specialist in cytogenetics (CLSp(CG) with preferred certification as a clinical laboratory supervisor. This individual must be able to perform all skill sets required for laboratory technologist positions, and have advanced training in all areas of routine and specialized FISH techniques.
