Director of Risk Management (Phoenix)

  • SUMMARY
    This position provides staff leadership for the Association focusing on specific safety and risk management practices to assure safe programs and facilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    •Education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
    •Experience in programs such as Aquatics or Childcare.
    •Strong communication, personal relations skills, collaborative and interpersonal skills, organization skills and experience in writing loss and audit reports.
    •Strong ethical, professional and service-oriented leadership and interpersonal skills.

    PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES

    1. Impact the frequency and severity of accidents for members, program participants, staff, volunteers and
    property.
    2. Review all incident reports and forward relevant incidents for claim review by the insurance company.
    3. Provide loss control services, including the identification, analysis and review of trends related to risks to
    reduce and manage claims.
    4. Assure that appropriate emergency procedures and response procedures are in place in every branch.
    5. Conduct loss control surveys and analysis of branches, vehicles and programs including, but not limited to
    scheduled and unscheduled site visits and specialty overviews.
    6. Evaluate program effectiveness and areas for improvement.
    7. Manages the vehicle and driver’s safety programs.
    8. Produce status reports regarding the level of risk associated with any given program.
    9. Improve staff safety training and emergency preparedness.
    10. Must be able to communicate risk issues and be able to provide a plan to minimize risk.
    11. Assist in creating safety-based policies and protocols.
    12. Work with branch Safety teams to ensure safety regulation compliance.
    13. Provide support during a crisis or significant accident.
    14. May have to testify on behalf of the Association.
    15. Participate in the Human Resources/Risk Management Committee meetings.
    16. Participate in appropriate industry organizations to maintain a current level of knowledge.
    17. Coordinate with outside agencies; insurance company risk management personnel, local fire departments,
    OSHA, when necessary
    18. Report trends, issues and compliance to senior staff on a semi-annual basis or more as needed

    • Location: Phoenix
    • Compensation: $63,800 – 79,700 annually
