LEGEND is currently seeking a Permanent, Part-Time Laboratory Technician I for its Tucson Laboratory/Service Center. This position will require regular WEEKEND/HOLIDAY hours as well as a Tuesday-Thursday work schedule for a total of approximately 20-25 hours per week. Saturday/Sunday/Holiday hours are limited to mornings between approximately 8-11. Tuesday-Thursday hours will include afternoons with some flexibility allowed.

- Basic microbiological/chemical analysis of environmental samples

- Sample receiving and login duties
 
- Sample pickup/collection (field duties)

DUTIES:
 

 
- Perform methods, data recording, and validation using prescribed methods.
 
- Perform basic procedures within the laboratory such as sample extraction, sample weighing, cleaning of containers and glassware, total solids analysis, bottle preparation, sample disposal, laboratory clean-up, etc. which does not involve utilizing instrumentation.
 
- Perform sample receiving duties including:
 
- Cooler preparation,
 
- Sample verification to COC,
 
- Verification of appropriate sample condition and packaging,
 
- Sample log in to the LIMS system.
 
- Delivery of samples to appropriate departments
 
- Perform sample pick-up and deliveries.
 
- Perform water sampling and other field sampling as needed.
 
- Perform other duties as needed.
 

 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 

 
- Entry level position for persons without a bachelor’s level degree. Minimum requirements are high school diploma and two years experience performing laboratory duties or other directly applicable activities.
 
- Must be able to work in a laboratory and work with chemicals including acids and solvents.
 
- Familiarity with computer systems for sample receiving duties.
 
- Ability to drive company vehicle if performing sample pick-up and deliveries.
 

 
** Must be able to work with chemicals and operate a company vehicle. A valid AZ driver’s license is required.
