H.R. Benefits Coordinator (Phoenix, AZ)

Under general supervision, this position assists in the administration of various employee benefit plans, which includes but is not limited to, group health, including dental and vision, group life and disability, workers compensation, employee stock purchase plan, 401k, flexible spending accounts, and other plans.
1. Assembles and distributes all benefits material to eligible employees and faculty. This includes assembling and disseminating benefits material to eligible employees for status and open enrollment changes, as well as, benefit plan transfers.
2. Enrolls newly eligible employees in benefit plans and provides an orientation of benefits information to newly eligible employees. Updates benefits records by processing status and open enrollment changes, benefit plan transfers and terminations in a timely and accurate manner. This includes creating, maintaining, and closing out benefit files.
3. Provides the highest level of customer service to employees through the assistance and resolution of claims and/or other benefits issues. Resolves benefits discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
4. May audit and prepare all corporate benefit insurance billings directed by management.
5. Prepares and distributes Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) notices to all eligible terminated employees in a timely and accurate manner. Compiles and maintains a tracking system of COBRA checks upon receipt.
6. Administers and tracks family medical leaves, applicable state leaves, and other company leaves, as outlined by department operating procedures, to ensure compliance with federal and state law.
7. Reports and monitors worker’s compensation claims to ensure compliance with federal and state law.
8. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
Basic Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Two to three years of experience in a customer service position.
Two to three years of employee benefits experience, or experience assisting in administration of employee benefit plans.
Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate general benefits information to internal customers.
Must also possess the ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral formats to insurance vendors in the administration of benefits programs.
Must have the ability to handle multiple service issues in a timely and effective manner in a fast paced environment.
Must clear criminal background check.
