HandsOn AmeriCorps VISTA Positions (Greater Phoenix)
-
Position: HandsOn AmeriCorps VISTA Members
Program Start/End Date
04/16/2012 – 04/15/2013Service Description: For over 17 years, HandsOn Greater Phoenix has worked with nonprofits, low-income schools, neighborhood associations and government entities to assess and meet the volunteer needs of the Greater Phoenix area. The HandsOn VISTA program places VISTA members in the role of volunteer or program coordinator at multiple sites and in doing so, hopes to infuse volunteer management competency into the community in a cost-effective manner. Members will enable our community service partners to build lasting infrastructure by creating the processes and tools needed to effectively access and utilize valuable volunteer resources. At the same time, more opportunities will be created for community members to engage in meaningful service to under-resourced communities. HandsOn will place VISTA members within host sites that have been carefully selected based on compelling need within the organization related to the under-resourced communities they serve, the demonstrated limited internal capacity to manage volunteers and volunteer programs, and/or the determination that targeted infrastructure improvements will result in improved volunteer engagement thus building organizational capacity to better serve clients and fulfill the organization’s mission. *HandsOn is currently seeking several VISTA members to serve with a variety of our community partner organizations. Interviews will take place until positions are filled. Please call Theresa at 602.973.2212 x242 to receive the specific position descriptions.*
