Job Developer (MWC-Gilbert)

AZ Women’s Education and Employment (AWEE) is looking for a candidate to work at the East Valley Maricopa Workforce Connection. The successful candidate will work as the AWEE Job Developer, supporting Maricopa County’s WIA program by focusing on individuals seeking employment who were formerly incarcerated. Develop, prepare, and implement course of action and service strategies appropriate for achieving individual objectives and program requirements based on assessment of and input from the participant.
The work will include job development, job clubs and career fairs with an estimated caseload of 100 participants in various stages of development. The candidate will work closely with the WIA Workforce Specialist to assure employment opportunities are matched with participants’ needs. The candidate will also be part of the Employment Team at AWEE that currently has four job developers. The successful candidate will know and understand the requirements of WIA Adult Program, focusing on those requirements while keeping the participants needs paramount.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assess labor markets as they relate to the employment trends and opportunities.
2. Determine and implement job development strategies tailored to benefit the WIA program participants.
3. Engage the business community in all AWEE Programs.
a. Develop and maintain relationships with employers and industry representatives who are experts on local market conditions
b. Build and maintain partnerships with similar workforce development and staffing organizations.
c. Plan, coordinate, and conduct employer outreach and business events with partner agencies as benefiting project participants.
d. Attend regular networking events, and other work groups involving employer outreach activities.
• Provide presentations to small and large audiences.
• Train employers about working with ex-offenders.
4. Assist businesses in addressing incumbent worker needs
a. Link businesses to hiring incentive programs.
5. Create employment opportunities benefiting project participants by developing linkages to transitional and permanent employment opportunities.
6. Works in a team environment with other AWEE staff for smooth service for participants and implementation of individual service plans as it relates to job search, placement and retention.
Qualifications and Experience:
1.Must have or be able to obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card.
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education or Social Service field and two years relevant work experience.
3.Requires related experience within the staffing/workforce development field.
4.Experience working with special populations a plus.
5.Related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-to-year basis
6.Knowledgeable of local labor market trends/conditions.
7.Familiar with major employers in the target communities.
8.Demonstrated communication skills to interface with internal and external customers; including excellent public speaking and presentation skill.
9.Strong writing skills demonstrated in case notes and written communication with employers and participants.
10.Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
11.Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
12.Valid Arizona Driver’s License
