    The National MS Society is dedicated to creating a world free of MS. Since 1956, the Arizona Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has provided information and assistance to people with multiple sclerosis and their loved ones.

    Offering much needed services and funding top-rated research, our dedicated staff members and volunteers are dedicated to achieving a world free of MS. We are people who want to do something about MS now. We are looking for interns to become an integral part of our team. Selected interns will gain valuable, hands-on, practical experience in working with a leading non-profit organization and the people we are dedicated to serve.

    Responsibilities:
    • Identify additional community resources in all categories (i.e. Neurologists, Occupational Therapists, Medical Equipment, Financial Assistance, etc.) throughout the State
    • Obtain comprehensive information about those resources including accessibility information
    • Update known information currently in database
    • Identify resources that are no longer available and need to be deleted
    • Serve as liaison between the chapter and community resources
    • Ensure that follow-up with local community contacts are done in a timely manner
    • Record updated resource data accurately into database provided
    • Maintain strong communications between staff, providers and other volunteers
    • Complete some administrative assistance
    • Attend Chapter programming as needed

    Time Required: The internship will require 10-15 hours per week. Hours will be set based on intern’s schedule and Society needs. This internship requires a 6 month commitment.

    Qualifications: Interns should be pursuing a Bachelors or Masters Degree in social work, public health, psychology, counseling, public administration or other related field. Experience in social work, community mental health, or at a non-profit office is helpful but not required.

    This internship is unpaid. For approved activities, interns can be reimbursed for mileage at the federal rate for volunteers.
