Aurora Behavioral Healthcare-Tempe is hiring for a Full Time / Evening Shift Mon-Fri 1:00 p.m to 9:30 p.m. Patient Financial Counselor.

The Patient Financial Counselor is responsible for the gathering and system inputting of patient demographics, insurance verification, and financial information as well as serving as the first point of contact with the patient and/or family in discussing benefits, and resolving out of pocket expenses.

The primary role is to assure an efficient and accurate registration process as well as resolving estimated out-of-pocket expenses prior to the patient’s discharge this may include but is not limited to: utilizing payment arrangement guidelines and reviewing for financial assistance.

The secondary role of this position is to audit account balances after the patient discharges for collection follow up and work with the collection agency on account balancing issues.

The Patient Financial Counselor will perform in a high-volume behavioral health environment with empathy and comprehensive communication skills.

•Understanding of the importance in acting as a patient advocate by proactively and cooperatively working to resolve patient concerns and inquiries.
•Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook as well as insurance verification websites.
•Comprehension and familiarity of medical insurance benefit terminology and calculations.
• Acknowledgement of patient’s rights on confidentiality issues, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times, and following HIPAA guidelines and regulations.

Must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and physical as well as obtain a fingerprint clearance card.

This is a Full Time / Evening Shift Mon-Fri 1:00 p.m to 9:30 p.m. please only apply if you are available for this shift.

Requirements
At least 2 years of previous insurance eligibility and benefits verification and collections a MUST. Patient collections and patient financial counseling experience a PLUS.
