PC/Network Technician (Tempe, AZ and Valleywide)

  • Small, well established SMB IT Services business is looking for a PC/Network Technician for 20 hours per week. More hours up to full time a possibility if desired.
    This position will report directly to the owner and Network Engineer and will provide 20 hours per week of on-site support for one of our clients. You will be on-site at the same client location two to three days per week and may need to travel to additional clients as needed or as available on additional days. Wages can be either contract or as a part time or full time hourly employee and will be determined based upon experience level.

    Responsibilities

    • Will report directly to the Network Engineer who will oversee all issues and support provided as well as resolve more complex server and network issues.

    • Setup and support of Window XP and Windows 7 desktop and laptop computers on a Windows Active Directory network. Will include installation and configuration of Microsoft Office applications,
    Outlook with Exchange connectivity, Adobe products, customer applications (training provided), managed Antivirus and printing.

    • Basic network and server administration including adding users to the Windows Server Active Directory, adding Exchange mailboxes to Outlook, POP or IMAP mailboxes, etc.

    • Monitor and manage local and off-site server backup images and related software and assist employees with restoring files as needed by staff. Network Engineer will usually assist with file restores.

    • Verify system updates, patches and Antivirus clients are regularly applied and address issues as needed.

    • Update and create documentation as necessary relating to software and hardware inventory, network configurations, server configurations, adds, moves, changes, etc.

    • Asset management, including software licensing, system and network hardware, etc.

    • Assist owner and Network Engineer with server installs, server upgrades, migrations, system management issues and client support issues as needed.

    • Assist with configuration and ordering of computer systems, network hardware, software, printers and peripherals as approved by the management.

    Requirements

    • Excellent client interpersonal communication skills with ability to clearly explain computer issues and work being performed while multi-tasking and staying positive and patient.

    • In-depth experience with Windows computers connected in a Windows Server Active Directory environment. All supported desktops and laptops will be running Windows XP or Windows 7 and will be connected to either
    Windows server 2003, Windows Server 2008 or both.

    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

    • Basic experience with Microsoft Exchange 2003 and or 2010 a plus

    • Basic experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and or 2008 a plus

    • Experience and good knowledge of Microsoft Office products

    • Experience with LAN and WAN connectivity, RDP and switching/routing, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP

    • Network+, MCP, MCSE, MCSA, MCITP or similar certifications a plus.

    • Background check required and drug test as well as valid AZ driver’s license.
