Photo Research and Permission Specialist
(Full-time, one-yr, in-house contract position to be made permanent hire after 1 year, or sooner)

Job Description
To find, procure, and edit images needed for elementary-level educational products from stock agencies, microstock, public domain sources, photographers and obscure sources for new materials. Other responsibilities include the updating, maintaining and management of the permissions database for all new and current images, and renewing images for past materials.

Additional Job Functions
1. Meeting deadlines for monthly uploads
2. Meeting with editors to discuss books and other projects in need of photos
3. Keeping track of when photos will need to have contracts updated

Required Skills and Abilities

1. Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience
2. Minimum 2 years experience in photo research, procurement and invoicing preferably in publishing (Knowledge and experience in the business of photography is not the same/equivalent. You MUST have photo research experience and references.)
3. Proficiency in FilemakerPro and Excel; knowledge of PhotoShop applications and InDesign.
4. Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, ask questions as needed and communicate clearly and professionally.
5. Extreme attention to detail and organization skills, design sense, ability to work with many personalities, and persistence.

Preferred Experience
6. Publishing background, especially educational publishing.
7. Graphic design/illustration and/or liberal arts background a plus.

Candidates will be assessed at time of interview with a short test of basic photo research knowledge.
