JOB SUMMARY
The POS Support Specialist is responsible for effective POS hardware/software and general PC hardware/software support, including programming Aloha POS software, basic help desk activity, and remote support of all restaurant technology. This person must possess excellent technical and communication skills. Analytical thinking will be very important as this position will involve problem resolution and process development. Strong customer-service attitude is a must! In addition this candidate must be able to define, maintain, and implement basic network connectivity, deploy/maintain POS server and terminals, translate user requirements into functional technical specifications, and must have previous experience within the hospitality industry.JOB FUNCTIONS
Note: the following duties and responsibilities are not all-inclusive
• Perform remote support activity to solve POS functionality issues and ensure proper operation.
• Receives through the helpdesk system and logs calls for technical assistance.
• Provide excellent customer service and constant follow-up with restaurant locations until a resolution has been found.
• Ensures that POS security procedures are implemented and enforced.
• Assist with the installation and maintenance of POS servers, terminals, and printers.
• Program POS item and price changes including database updating and maintenance.
• Research ways to continually improve POS operations.
• Maintain appropriate documentation and change management logs.
• Troubleshooting and repair of supported POS hardware.
• Provide hardware/software service and maintenance to additional items including PCs, laptops, and peripherals.
• Responsible for shipping and receiving of hardware repair items.
• Maintain hardware inventory levels and request reorders of items and changes to par levels.
• Provide on-call evening/weekend after-hours technical support to restaurant locations.
• Work some early morning, night, or weekend hours as dictated by operational needs.
• Perform new store opening on-site support including POS training of restaurant staff as needed.
• Provide backup support to IT Team for basic networking, connectivity, email, and user support.
• Create knowledge articles for all issues not already documented to reduce troubleshooting and research time of future calls.
• Perform reasonable additional duties as requested by the Director of IT.JOB REQUIREMENTS
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:• Minimum 2 years: Experience in tech support or help desk role OR Work within the hospitality industry.
• Preferred: background related to programming or database development.
• Working knowledge of POS software (Aloha is preferred).
• General networking/connectivity knowledge.
• General Windows desktop administration and user support/training background.
• Strong customer service attitude and effective communication skills.
• Ability to perform tasks while consistently bending, stooping, kneeling or standing while supporting additional weight of up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to maintain a pleasant disposition and function efficiently in high stress/pressure work environment.
• Maintain a high level of work quality and quantity per company standards.
• Ability to effectively organize and multi-task to ensure work load is maintained.
• Report to and from work as scheduled while adhering to all company policies and employee handbook.
• Adhere to personal hygiene and appearance standards at all times.
• Take the initiative to make contributions to the department and Company while maintaining positive working relationships with co-workers.
