Engineer III within the Materials and Processes Engineering Department — Life Methods and Material Behavior. The position requires strong knowledge and experience in structural mechanics and proficiency in finite element analysis, both in terms of development and advanced usage of commercial or in-house software. The candidate is expected to develop constitutive models for numerical simulation of material and structural behavior. The candidate is expected to execute difficult technical projects on schedule and within budget while working as part of a cross functional team.
Basic Qualifications:
Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering and related areas
Minimum of 3 years experience in the field of solid mechanics and material
U.S. citizen or United States Lawful Permanent Resident Alien is required to support government projects and programsAdditional Qualifications:
Experience with advanced computational algorithms for simulation of material and structural behavior.
Experience with fatigue, fracture mechanics, and creep life prediction methodologies a plus
Capable of drafting a project plan to develop and test materials, complete a technical peer review, and execute difficult tasks on time and on budget.
Excellent communication skills. Capable of clearly communicating technical concepts in written and oral formats.
Excellent team building skills. Capable of leading a cross functional team, including technical leadership of support personnel.
Capable of incorporating statistically based experiments into materials technology research projects, executing projects such as to generate required quantitative data, and completing an analysis of the data using applicable software.
Mentor less experienced engineers. Mentor university interns as appropriate.
Interact with Honeywell staff, customers, suppliers, potential partners, and the relevant technical communities to influence technical and business impact of potential new products.
Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering and related areas required with a PhD preferred.
