RE: Be a Teacher/Public Speaker in China (China) (DANGER)

  • RUN, don’t walk – away from this ad and Craigslist should REMOVE IT!

USE EXTREME CAUTION when deciding to respond to any ad from a company that refuses to name itself. Your email address and photo are valuable to con artists. DON’T GIVE YOUR INFO AWAY.

    RED FLAGS:

They use an anonymous email address. They say they are "The Leading Education and Technology Company in China" – yet they won’t tell you who they are. Be absolutely certain to verify that the name of the hiring institution. This could be an agency that will attempt to sign you up as and then they will sub-contract you out to the highest bidder: This is most definitely a situation you want to avoid at all cost.

These companies are not legit. And seriously? You’re going to send them a photo of yourself? bad idea. They are probably going to use those photos in another one of their scam businesses to deceive other people.

You need to know that many (if not most) recruiters in China commonly use a “bait and switch” tactic of mass mailing advertisements to anonymous e-mail recipient that describe very promising positions with high salaries. Of course, once the recruiter is in possession of the recipient’s real name, e-mail address, and application materials, these positions never seem to be available (the teacher is informed that either the school just withdrew the position or that it’s already been filled).
