Senior Field Technologist (Arizona)

  • Crosswalk Technologies (CT), a technology consultancy and integrator specializing in the healthcare vertical, has an opening for a Senior Field Technologist in our Technology Services department. This full-time multi-faceted position is significant to our daily work load and directly affects the evolutionary development of our service quality and offerings. A SFT is also analogous to an NCO by which they provide not just expertise in a broad range of technical areas but field leadership as well to both our customers and junior techs. Our customers and team should feel very comfortable talking to a person in this position and be left with the utmost confidence that they will provide satisfactory solutions to their problems. A SFT reports to upper management and will have direct daily access to the company president.

    Anyone that is legal to work in the US may apply for this position but the ideal candidate should have:

    - the equivalent of at least 5+ years of single-handedly and competently designing, deploying and administering multiple Windows server domain environments (2003-2008R2 / XP-W7)
    - the equivalent of at least 5+ years of single-handedly and competently designing, deploying and administering multi-site managed Ethernet switch, gateway and VPN environments
    - the equivalent of at least 5+ years of single-handedly and competently designing, deploying and administering Exchange infrastructures and mail client apps (Exch 2003-2010 / Outlook 2003-2010 / phone apps / browser-based)
    - the equivalent of at least 5+ years of single-handedly and competently designing and planning technology infrastructures for both technical and non-technical audiences with satisfactory close ratios
    - experience in communication cabling technologies and deployments (LAN / WAN / telco / peripherals)
    - exposure to healthcare practice management, EHR, and imaging technologies
    - exposure to QuickBooks and bookkeeping concepts
    - some experience in audio-visual technologies
    - exposure to small commercial construction tools, materials and drywall repair
    - exposure to basic AC/DC circuits and commercial electrical power distribution
    - the ability to lift 40lbs. by yourself
    - the ability to carry and move 30lbs. by yourself for a minimum of 20 feet
    - the ability to properly carry, setup and use an 8 ft A-frame ladder by yourself
    - reliable, always available, legal and insured transportation to travel to and from customer locations (we service the whole State of Arizona and parts of outlining states)
    - the desire to lead, mentor and teach junior technologists
    - the desire to help develop future service offerings
    - the desire to do R&D for our company’s development and service evolution
    - the command/control skill set to keep junior techs busy throughout the day
    - the technical skill set to meet personal monthly production goals

    - a good MVD record with a current and valid drivers license

    - the work ethic and integrity to successfully function completely without supervision and keep oneself busy throughout the workday

    The following key functions are to be expected by a seasoned SFT:

    Technical Service Team Lead:
    - Remote and on-site technical support specialist
    - End-user trainer in MS Office products and general business peripherals
    - On-site technical team supervisor
    - Assist with the morale, appearance and development of junior techs
    - Mentor and trainer to junior techs (provide leadership to junior techs)
    - Provide adequate supervision to junior techs to minimize issues
    - Enforce company policies and procedures with the junior techs
    - Support in-house IT infrastructure
    - Assist in R&D for evolutionary standardization changes
    - Properly communicate with management on all issues on a daily basis

    Technical Sales and Design Engineer:
    - End-user technical sales assistance
    - Broad technical product knowledge (industry-specific / consumer / hardware / software)
    - Expert in Crosswalk deployment and configuration standardizations
    - Technology infrastructure analyst and troubleshooter
    - Relationship building personality / competent communicator and organizer

    Systems Administrator:
    - Windows OS platform specialist (servers / workstations / laptops / tablets / thin clients)
    - Windows Domain specialist (AD / Group Policies / DNS / DHCP / file and print sharing / NTFS permissions)
    - Exchange specialist (design / deployment / Web and outlook client access / mobile devices)
    - Storage specialist (DAS / NAS / iSCSI SAN / VSS backups / data archiving)
    - Host-based security administrator (host-based security apps: firewalls / VPN clients / antivirus / sensors / management tools)
    - VM/Hypervisor specialist (host and bare metal based VMs / server and desktop VMs / VM management tools)
    - Network-based fax/scanning/printing specialist
    - Remote management and monitoring specialist

    Network Administrator:
    - Layer2/3 design and implementation specialist
    - Layer 4+ traffic shaping technologist (CoS / QoS / bandwidth throttling / LAGs / load-balancing)
    - Physical network specialist (copper / fiber / wireless)
    - Network security administrator (taps / scanners / VPNs / VLANs / Gateways / ACL / 802.1x / EAP / TACACS or RADIUS)
    - Network storage administrator (iSCSI / NAS / bandwidth optimization)

    Infrastructure Engineer:
    - LAN/WAN technologist (LAN / WAN / demarcs / cable / DSL / T1 / E1)
    - Telco technologist (PSTN / POTS / TDM / VoiP)
    - Audio-visual technologist (TVs / sound systems / paging systems / multimedia systems computer-based AV systems / soundboards / lightboards)
    - Surveillance technologist (analog and IP based surveillance systems / DVRs / power and distribution systems)
    - Environmental conditioning technologist (surge protection / UPS / cooling / monitoring)
    - Basic power technologist (DC circuits / 120 – 240VAC wiring and circuit knowledge)

    As a SFT, you will be provided with a company cell phone, company credit card, tool kit and 24X7 access to the office R&D lab equipped with several physical servers, thin clients, workstations, and networking equipment.
