Exponent?s Technology Development Practice helps military clients to stay current with and benefit from rapidly evolving civilian technologies. Drawing on our multidisciplinary engineering, prototyping, testing, and failure analysis expertise, we identify, adapt, and leverage the best in COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) technologies from the private sector to create integrated systems and modules cost-effectively to address capability gaps for soldiers. Exponent has successfully identified and evaluated the best COTS technologies, developed integrated prototypes, qualified production processes, and upgraded modules with new technologies. Exponent is bringing an exciting and new approach to solving the military?s most challenging and urgent needs.

The Technology Development Practice is currently hiring for a Senior Software Developer to be located in our Phoenix, AZ office. We are looking for bright individuals with a passion for solving engineering problems for military customers. Responsibilities include assisting on all projects and tasks with the practice?s clients and helping to coordinate the successful execution of technology projects deployed to the battlefield. This position will be a part of a hands-on technical team that is developing complex distributed electronic systems involving wearable computing, spatial visualization, wireless data communication, and other leading-edge applications. This software will typically have military applications, such as databases, mapping, VOIP, video, robot control, etc. You must have team project experience as well as a solid track record of individual achievement within demanding project schedules. This position may require customer interface and some travel (for testing and demonstrations).

Qualifications for this position include:

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related degree
• 3-5+ years of experience
• Experience with inter-process communication, network protocols, databases, and languages (such as C#/.Net, Java, C/C++) is preferred
• Knowledge of UML desired
• Experience developing software for a range of platforms and operating systems (PCs, PDAs, Windows, Linux, etc) is desired
• Experience utilizing open-source software is a plus
• Experience with network routing, audio/video encoding and transport, and signal processing is a plus
• GPU programming experience a plus
• Matlab experience a plus
• Excellent and creative problem solving ability
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Our contract with the United States Government for this position requires proof of U.S. citizenship and the possession of or ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
