Systems Administrator / Perl Developer at DesertNet

Located in Tucson, Arizona, DesertNet seeks a sysadmin/developer with a strong skill set in FreeBSD/UNIX/Linux and Perl. The ideal candidate will first and foremost be good at learning on the job and thinking on their feet.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

* FreeBSD systems experience preferred; other UNIX/Linux experience may be sufficient
* Strong Perl skills essential
* Solid foundation in TCP/IP extremely helpful
* Experience supporting public, dynamic web service with significant traffic volume a big plus
* Experience deploying and maintaining servers in a data center a big plus
* Systems automation experience a plus

The candidate must be able to:

* Prioritize and multi-task various aspects of a dynamic workload
* Independently maintain momentum and meet deadlines, while working as part of a cooperative team
* Communicate concisely, clearly, and politely with coworkers and customers

* Respect established practices and existing solutions, while maintaining an open mind toward new ideas

DUTIES

* Support senior sysadmins and developers in particular, and office staff in general
* Participate in a rotating 24/7 pager schedule
* Triage outages and problems
* Maintain data center deployment

* Must live in Tucson, AZ or be willing to relocate to Tucson, AZ.
