Title
 
Systems Analyst
 

 
The Systems Analyst is involved in the development process from start to finish, acting as the liaison between the business users and the technical team. This includes gathering requirements, creating functional and technical designs, monitoring developer progress, providing input to QA, and leading the user acceptance testing. In short, the Systems Analyst is responsible for making sure the system works as conceptualized and as designed.
 

 
Having a strong technical background, preferably in the LAMP arena, is a key to success in this role. Being a student of web application usability and design is also important. Because the Systems Analyst may interact directly with clients, excellent communication skills and the ability to represent the company in a professional manner are a must.
 

 
Duties and Responsibilities
 

 
• Gather user requirements from internal users and clients
 
• Assist in defining project scope
 
• Create functional design documents, including screen mockups and process flows
 
• Create technical design documents
 
• Meet with developers to communicate requirements and designs
 
• Monitor coding progress
 
• Assist QA in developing test conditions
 
• Train QA on functionality
 
• Work with QA to resolve questions
 
• Make sure all requirements are met
 
• Ensure tasks and projects are being completed on time
 
• Provide input into overall system design
 
• Lead in user acceptance testing
 
• Create training materials
 
• Train staff on new features
 
• Create white papers for new features
 
• Create internal and external user documentation including updating a wiki as needed
 
• Provide subject matter expertise to organization on an on-going basis
 
• Perform ROI analysis on design options, if needed
 
• Assist in rollout planning and implementation
 

 
Qualifications
 

 
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
 
• 2+ years of design experience
 
• Good understanding of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP) architecture
 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
 
• Excellent writing and communication skills
 
• Familiar with Agile software development and the SDLC, in general
 
• Experience in design of web-based applications
 

 
Salary
 
Salary Range $58,000-$68,000
