Final application deadline is Friday, February 10th.
Teach For America is the national corps of outstanding recent college graduates and professionals — of all backgrounds, academic majors, and career paths — who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools and become lifelong leaders to help all students fulfill their potential. Each year, we select a diverse corps of individuals who have the skills and commitment to take on the intense personal challenge to directly improve the quality of education for students growing up today in low-income communities, and to help break the cycle of educational inequity.
Our corps members bring with them numerous skills and experiences from their work, leadership, and academic backgrounds that are invaluable in effecting change in their classroom. We will train you to learn how to best translate your skills into your role as a teacher during a rigorous pre-service summer training program and place you as a teacher with full salary and benefits. Teach For America will continue to support you through a two-year professional development program as you achieve your teacher certification to ensure your success as a teacher and beyond. You will also have the opportunity to develop lasting relationships and build a network of colleagues who are also passionate about this mission and will provide you with support both during your corps experience and beyond — whether you stay in the classroom, move on to school leadership, or take another path after your two years in the program.

Note: We are able to offer the AmeriCorps education award, loan forbearance, and interest payment through our partnership with AmeriCorps, the national service network. All AmeriCorps payments are considered to be taxable income. Given the nature of the AmeriCorps competitive grant process and the dependence on Congressional funding cycles, we cannot guarantee these benefits for corps members serving during the 2012-2013 school year until receiving final confirmation in June 2012. Recent changes in national service laws may result in an increase to the education award for the 2011-2012 year.
