Position Responsibilities 
The Research Director Position is accountable for the following routine activities: 
• Managing a team of 3-10 Research Analysts 
• Working with a Docketing Manager to docket searches out to a team of Research Analysts in their respective technology area 
• Reviewing and guiding work products from Research Analysts throughout the search workflow process 
• Providing group and individual training sessions to new and intermediate Research Analysts 
• Monitoring and being accountable for metrics related to group and individual performance 
• Administering performance reviews and managing ongoing 1-on-1 meetings with Research Analysts 
• Performing extensive quality reviews of work products before they are sent to customers 
• Participating in periodic meetings with other Research Directors to work on improving Best Practices 
• Working with sales team to develop quotes for new projects 
• Occasionally communicating with customers to scope projects 
 
Position Requirements 
Individuals seeking a career in this position should have the following experience and attributes: 
• BS, MS or PHD in Engineering, Biology or Science, etc. or equivalent experience required 
• Previous patent search experience required 
• Previous experience as a Patent Examiner is preferred 
• Previous management experience desired 
• Attention to detail 
• Timeliness 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
• Hard work ethic (consistent willingness to work beyond what is expected) 
 
Position Location 
We are a growing company located in the SkySong Center for Innovation & Technology in Scottsdale, Arizona. While the position may manage Research Analysts in locations throughout the U.S., this position will be located in Scottsdale, AZ.
