Position Description:
 
Job Title: Web Developer – XML, HTML, CSS
 
Skills: XML, HTML, CSS, XHTML, XSLT, JavaScript
 

 
This position will collaborate in a small team with other web developers, user interface designers, quality assurance staff and DBAs to design and implement technical solutions on new and existing web portals.
 

 
Position Responsibilities:
 
• Designs and creates intuitive and applicable user experiences through information architecture, graphic design and user interface development for websites and applications.
 
• Develops production quality mock-ups and clickable prototypes as well as production ready graphics, interfaces and templates.
 
• Develops final production XHTML and CSS code and web templates and implements solutions within publishing environments.
 
• Evaluates the usability of designs through usability testing and personal expertise.
 
• Be able to demonstrate knowledge of the current and emerging web standards.
 
• Write clean, standards-based CSS.
 

 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
• Three years of experience in the design and development of websites or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
 
• 2 years’ web development including advanced knowledge of standards-compliant XHTML and CSS
 
• 2 years’ experience creating working prototypes using JavaScript
 

 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
• Experience with XML and XSL and web content management systems
 
• Knowledge of best practices pertaining to web graphics, web file management
 
• PHP and SQL experience preferred but not required
 
• Organized self-starter, experienced with working from a structured project plan
 
• Keen attention to detail in code and content
 
• Comfortable writing documentation for and presenting training sessions to non-technical audiences.
 
• Graphic design, user interface design and/or information architecture experience preferred.
 
• Usability and Information Architecture experience preferred
 
• 2-3 years of Visual Design experience
 

 
Additional Position Details:
 
• Work as part of a team to design, develop websites and interactive web applications.
 
• Develop final production XHTML, CSS and XSL code and implement solutions within publishing environments.
 
• Consult with project manager and clients to develop customized solutions to optimize function of content management system, and ease of site maintenance.
