Ideal candidate is an individual with the education and experience to write, edit, design, maintain, update and manage the City’s websites, operate video production equipment, and to be a resource person for City departments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a 4-year degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years computer experience including 1 year in web-based programming and video production.
Knowledge of industry standards in website development and content accessibility.
Knowledge of network architectures and theory and principles of network design and integration.
Knowledge of internet applications design and development and application packages.
Knowledge of local system access, file sharing, and security guidelines and procedures.
Knowledge of laws, codes and regulations pertaining to the use of internet hardware and software.
Knowledge of applicable programming languages, web browser software and web design issues in a Linux environment accessing MySQL and Oracle databases.
Knowledge of video production techniques, including pre-production, production, and post-production.
Skills in using a computer and related equipment and web development and site management applications.
Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with City departments and City employees.
Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
Skill in following and effectively communicating technically complex instructions
Skills in analyzing problems and determining effective solutions.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs, creates and manages the City’s internet and intranet websites; responsible for day-to-day maintenance and operation. Works with departments to identify, define and develop website content and presentations.
Creates graphics/maps for website use; formats documents, photos and graphics submitted for use.
Develops databases and web-based applications needed to make websites interactive; assists with implementation of web-based applications; creates web-based forms.
Implements multimedia solutions such as web cams, streaming video, animation and audio clips for the websites.
Monitor and test network performance and software platforms.
Imports, exports and converts data from a variety of sources and formats.
Recommends policies and standards on website content, ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations and polices; generates activity reports as requested; develops and conducts training as necessary; serves as a resource for web contributors and other web publishers within the City.
Performs a variety of audio and video production activities, including camera operation, creation of special effects and editing.
