Windows Systems Engineer
Location : Salt Lake City UT
Duration : 6 months (May extend to 1 Year)
Job Description:
This position will provide support for Wintel, virtualization and data center operations. Duties shall also include planning, implementation, and execution of strategic projects. These projects may involve partnering with internal data center and commercial data center teams for IT planning, or rollout of application storage requirements. Technical functions also include the deployment and maintenance of automated systems for storage utilization tracking and reporting. Other duties include assisting with support of data center operations as needed such as hardware installations, VMware, remote server support, tape backups, and on-call rotation.
Responsibilities include:
* Configuration, administration, support, troubleshooting, and installation of Windows 2000/2003/2008 operating systems.
* Maintenance and support of Microsoft File and Print servers.
* Review tasks, issues and recommend changes to reduce problem reoccurrences.
* Administer hardware components including HP, Dell, and other Wintel devices.
* Configuring network and server software, hardware and peripheral devices to resolve network issues.
* Support of monitoring technologies used to alert on the data center infrastructure and servers/applications hosted in the data center.
* Working knowledge of VMware ESX and VMware View environments.
* Ancillary support may include migration, update and changes to new software and devices in the future. Some after hours support work will be required for the implementation of upgrades into the live environment.
Required Qualifications:
* Strong applied experience with Windows Server NT/2000 /2003/2008 and Active Directory.
* Extensive experience in a large, complex enterprise environment (1000+ servers / 10,000+ employees).
* Excellent hardware skills, including optimization and fault tolerance, HP servers preferred.
* Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft NTFS and Share permissions.
* Experience with Backup, Recovery, Information Protection, Application Servers and Security protocols.
* Working knowledge of the following TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, WINS, HTTP / FTP, SFTP, SNMP, iSCSI.
* Experience in systems analysis and/or client needs analysis.
* Candidates must be knowledgeable and have proven skills in the following areas:
o Wintel environments
* Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
* A technical professional that works well in a team environment
Desired Qualifications:
* Working knowledge of the following types of hardware/software technologies and troubleshooting for each:
o HP Blade Chassis
o HP DL380 and HP DL585
* Microsoft patch management experience
* Systems Administration of network environments
* Technical Writing experience
* Experience with High Availability – MS Cluster Service, NLB
o ITIL experience
* Oral and written presentation experience to senior level management
* Understanding of HIPPA regulations
* Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree (in Computer Science, Math or Engineering) or equivalent experience
Travel:
Minimal travel required.
